209 Qualified Police Inspectors to be promoted as Assistant Superintendent of Police – Minister of Public Security
Minister of Public Security, Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekar stated that, by the end of this month, 209 qualified Police Chief Inspectors will be interviewed for promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The Minister elaborated that, a number of fundamental issues that need to be addressed within the Police has been identified and one of them is the issue of promotions. He further pointed out that the police officers have not been promoted for many years due to the lack of proper procedures.
Therefore, following the discussions with the President, a total of 209 qualified Police Inspectors are to be promoted as Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The Minister has also said that steps will be taken to provide the food allowance of the police officers promptly.
