PM leaves for Bangladesh for a two-day official visit

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa leaves the country this morning (19) for a diplomatic visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.

The Sri Lankan delegation including the Prime Minister left for Bangladesh on a UL 189 Sri Lankan Airlines flight.

During his two-day official visit, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will be attending the Golden Jubilee celebration of Bangladesh Independence Day and the Celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will also deliver a special address this afternoon on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh and the “Mujib Year” declared to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

During this official visit, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will participate in bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, President of Bangladesh Mohammad Abdul Hamid and the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh.
